ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Homeowners throughout the area continue clean-up from Tuesday's severe thunderstorms and dangerous wind conditions as a result of the remnants of Tropical Storm Cristobal hitting Chicagoland. Lightning struck a power line a little before 5 p.m., and a resident's car was engulfed in flames as a result of the downed line, on Dryden Place, near St. Viator High School, in central Arlington Heights.

At the height of the storm, ComEd reported 68 power outages, affecting 4,271 customers, in the Arlington Heights area. The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning and advised residents to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
